Brochure design and page architecture for a timber frame specialist
Kingspan Timber Solutions specialise in constructing timber frame homes for self-build projects. Their brochure needed to do a lot of heavy lifting: explaining a complex technical process clearly enough for someone who has never built a home before, while feeling professional and reassuring enough to inspire confidence in a significant financial decision.
The content was supplied by the client. My job was to make it work as hard as possible on the page. I developed a clear structure and page hierarchy, a colour coding system to help readers navigate between sections and refer back at different stages of the build, and a suite of custom icons and illustrated badges to highlight key information without interrupting the flow of the text.

Good information design is often invisible. When it works, the reader simply finds what they need without noticing how they got there. The brochure moves from the broad principles of timber frame construction through to the specifics of the KTS process, with signposting throughout that makes it as useful as a reference document as it is a first read.

The icon suite was designed to work at small sizes and across different coloured backgrounds, giving the design team flexibility for any future updates. Infographics summarising key facts and statistics throughout the brochure give readers a quick reference overview of the most important information.

The outcome
A brochure the client described as something they were genuinely proud of. The project also led directly to further work for Potton, a sister company within the same group specialising in self-build house packages, with a completely different visual approach for a more premium audience.
